Rocio Aleman, Stuttgart Ballet Germany
Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Rocio began her professional dance studies at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza in 2003. A talented and promising student, she received a full scholarship to continue her studies at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany.
During her studies, Rocio also successfully participated in international competitions: in 2005, she won the gold medal at the ‘Concurso Nacional de Danza Clásica Infantil y Juvenil’ in Mexico; in 2008, the bronze medal at the ‘Concurso Internacional para Jóvenes Estudiantes de Ballet’ in Cuba, as well as the gold medal in the ‘Senior’s Division’ at the Youth America Grand Prix in New York.
Graduated from the prestigious school in 2011, she was selected to join the Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice. In 2021, she reached the coveted rank of Principal Dancer with the company.
Her personal repertoire includes leading roles such as Marguerite Gautier in “The Lady of the Camellias” (John Neumeier), Aurora in “Sleeping Beauty” (Marcia Haydeé), Tatjana in the ballet “Onegin” (John Cranko), Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” (John Cranko) ; as well as leading roles in ballets by John Cranko, Jifi Kylian, Hans van Manen, Marco Goecke, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Uwe Scholz, Christian Spuck, Itzik Galili, Jorma Elo and Edward Clug, among others.
Both her breathtaking performances on the world’s greatest stages and her numerous international awards are testament for her artistic excellence. In 2017, she received from Enrique Peña Nieto, former President of Mexico, the “National Youth Award” in the distinction “Artistic Expressions and Popular Arts”. Likewise, Rocío has received several distinctions and mentions by renowned magazines: “50 Mexicans who transform Mexico” by Quién magazine and “100 most creative Mexicans in the world” by Forbes Mexico magazine.
